In 1986, I was traveling in England, when I was stung by a bee on my left arm. I was treated with an antihistamine and an antibiotic. My arm grew steadily worse; I flew home in that condition thinking that it would heal in time. Nine days later, I was entertaining a slight fever in my arm and unusual redness.
